Child Has Consistent Fever, Blood Tests Show Elevated ESR. Other Tests Normal. What Could Be Going On?

Hi, My daughter is 2 years old and she is suffering from fever for the last 1 month. First we did blood test in which ESR and CRP are elevated like 55 and 25 and others are normal and after 5 days when we test it once again ESR goes to 105. We did chest x-ray , abdominal ultrasound, ASO titer, ANA, RH factor, urine test, urine culture , malaria etc all are showing normal, but fever is still persist. i am not able to understand what disease is going on in her body, please help me in this regard.

Hello
Fever for one month with 1 week investigation is defined as 'fever of unknown origin'. All first line investigations has been done in your child except tuberculin test for tuberculosis, widal test for typhoid and blood culture.
If all first line investigations are normal then get second line investigations like HIV ELISA, complement levels, brucella serology, test for infectious mononucleosis done.

I will suggest you to consult your doctor and get all these investigation done to reach a diagnosis and then management accordingly.
In most of the cases a diagnosis is made. Sometimes it may not be possible to reach a diagnosis even after thorough investigation.
Empirical broad spectrum antibiotic is used for treatment of the fever. Some cases of FUO resolve over a period of time.
