Child Has Diarrhea, Stomach Pain, Vomiting. Stomach Bug?
My 7 year old son has had diarrhea (almost complete liquid, and sometimes explosive) for several days, maybe 4-5 days. He complains on and off of stomach pains but overall has been acting normal, going to school & playing soccer, etc. now this morning he woke up and starting vomiting liquid (no food pieces) and his stomach hurts right by his belly button. He also had diarrhea this morning. This doesn t seem like a typical stomach bug, should I make a doctors appt. or wait to see if it passes? He has no fever , and right now, about 2 hours after throwing up he appears fine again. He is a picky eater so he didn t eat anything strange or different. He does eat a lot of peanut butter & the recent recall worries me.
Hello Dear
I have read your query in detail. Recurrent loose stools and vomiting are indication of infection in digestive tract or presence of worm. You child needs to be examined by your physician and accordingly he can prescribe you a course of antibiotic or antihelminthic drugs.
Till you get your appointment, keep your child hydrated, give him only fresh food or juice, give high fiber diet, can add electrolyte powder to drinks and avoid cold drinks and soda.
Also give your child boiled or RO filtered water.
Hope this will help you.

loose stools and vomiting in a very large amount can cause dehydration vry soon in a child. so u have to look for signs o f dehydration- dry mouthdry eyes decreased urine , he needs to be evluated by the doctor for any infections in his GI tract. till u get an appointment keep him well hydrated with the new improved formula of ORS, some low sugar fresh fruit juices, tender coconut water wud be very safe, home made ORS- a tumbler of water , a pinch of salt and baking soda, half a tea spoon of sugar- this mixture in a good quantity can be given every now and then to keep the child well hydrated. kindly stop peanut butter.
