Child Has Fever. Taking Antibiotic And Sleeping A Lot. Is This Normal?

Hi Sir, My son, 14 months old is having fever since few days. The temp is hovering around 99.5F since Wednesday. Initially the doc gave Crocin and T-Minic, then on Friday we took again as there was no improvement and the doc gave an antibiotic , then till SUnday nothing happened, so doc suggested to stop the Antibiotic and replaced the same with another antibiotic i.e. Cepodem. After that the kid is sleepong a lot, having disturbed sleep and not urinating frequently. Is this normal? are medicines fine? Are we missing something - as the fever is not going off. regards Gouraba - A very worried father

Hi,
Thank you for your query.
Fever means temperature>100F.
If your child does not have fever then the child should not receive crocin or any antibiotic.
Antibiotics should be prescribed after doing blood tests.
Sleep is a way by which the body takes rest and recovers after a viral fever.This is absolutely normal.Give him lots of rest and plenty of fluids.
