Child Has Fever, Severe Cold, Congestion, Throws Out Food, Fever Subsides Temporarily With Calpol. Further Action Advise?

Hi my child is 17 months old and have fever from last 6days, also he is suffering from severe cold and chest congestion and cough. whatever he eats/drink he vomit it out because of whooping cough . Doctor has prescribed him Recofast Plus and Atarax and calpol if fever persist. However his fever goes down when he have calpol and then it rises after 4-5hours. Please suggest, what should be next step of action as he is having sleepless and unfortable nights.

Hi, your doctor may be thinking of viral infection-that is why the child has been given symptomatic relief medicines and paracetamol, and anti allergic drugs
If the child still has fever on and off,and discomfort, one has to rulenoutbthebfollwing
1-secondary infection for which he may need antibiotics
2- wheezing secondary to viral infection for which he may need bronchodilator medicines
In both cases go to the doctor for evaluation.
Allntye best
