Child Has Fever, Sore Throat, Fever, Swollen Throat. What Can I Do?

my son is 10 yrs old...and i believe has strep throat , he has a fever of 37.5 seemed pretty good yesterday was up and about but still had sore throat and fever and laid down a couple times but now today he hasn t even got up to pee, hes been sleeping allllllllllll day, sound asleep tooo, and still has fever and a swollen throat, what can i do?

Hi,

Your child requires urgent medical attention. This is because he is feeling drowsy and lethargic which is one of the danger signs.

A parent should know that if a kid has lethargy, poor feeding, vomiting or loss of consciousness then he should be taken to the doctor immediately.

Your doctor will get a throat swab for culture and start him on antibiotics if required.
