Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 2 year old daughter has 103.6 degree temp after adding a degree under the arm, and has been complaining since yesterday of a sore stomach. Her fever came out of no where, she woke up and was burning up. Should I take her to the E.R.? I did give her 7ml of Tylenol half hour ago, her temp now is 103.3 after adding.
Hi dear,
Your child is probably having an infection resulting in fever. Mostof the times fevers are due to viruses which will subside in few days. ALl you have to do is keep giving tylenol sixth hourly and still if it persists do tepid sponging every fifteen minutes to reduce the fever. You need to be worried if fever doesn't settle in two to three days, if child is not taking even fluids, child is drowsy or throwing convulsions. Then you can immediately show her to ER. Keep her hydrating with lots of fluids. She will be alright.
Take care
