My daughter age is 7. Recently she had left loin pain.Doctor advises abdominal scan. scan report shows the following " Hydronephrosis of the left kidney, with features of a duplex system. The configuration of the dilated system would be consistent with a PUJ obstruction of the lower pole moiety of the duplex system .No distentended ureter is demonstrated ' . What does the impression mean . Is it serious or curable .Please explain .
Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

The impression is suggestive of enlargement of kidney due to presence of obstruction to the urine flow at the proximal part of the junction of kidney with the ureter.

And there duplex system means presence of two pelvicalyceal structures.

It is curable and the obstruction there has to be corrected surgically to prevent further swelling and damage to kidney.

Therefore consult the doctor for referral to a urologist for further management.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
