Hi, My son is 14 months old. He was given breast milk only 1 month after birth. From then on he is on NAN. He started drinking normal boiled milk since 2 months and now he is having loose stools . He refuses to take any solid/ liquid not even water. I stopped giving boiled milk since a week. Can i try giving him NAN now ?

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
As he is having loose mpotions, try to maintain his hydration.
Hydration is maintained by giving sips of oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte, coconut water, and lemon water.
At home you can give curd and yogurt as they contain probiotic which restores normal intestinal flora.
Consult your Pediatrician for the asessment of your child hydration status and for treatment like probiotic and any antibiotic if neccessary.
For feeding try to give solid feeds and restrct milk as there may be indigestion of lactose.
Hope I have answered ypour query.

Loose motions might be due to some other reason. It might not be due to Boiled milk. You have started normal milk since 2 months and when loose motions have started recently it might be not due to the milk. lactose intolerance is ruled out as the baby was on NAN. NAN can be started but gradually taper it to normal milk with full cream as it is very essential for babies till the age of 3 years. later on you can switch over to normal milk. Make sure you add some ingredients to get the baby's attention on drinking milk.

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Your son is having diarrhea which is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days.
Most important is to maintain hydration.
Give oral rehydration solution after each loose stool.give coconut water, lemonade, curd, boiled potato, banana, apple puree, rice porridge.
Decrease milk intake.
Monitor hydration status and if symptoms persist get him evaluated by pediatrician.

Wishing your child good health.
God bless.
