Child Has Low Body Temperature, Profuse Sweating From Head. Reason?

My daughter was in hospital for 7 days for sepsis due to unknown causes. After having monocef injection and mikacin injection, she was discharged with no fever , but after her fever subsided she is continuously having low body temp (95 to 96 deg f) while sleeping only, and sweating profusely from the head, forehead only at night. Her blood and urine culture reports showed no growth after 48 hours. We are very worried and and kindly advise the reasons for her sweating ang low temp at night. When awake she is having normal body temp betweeen 97.6 to 98.8 def f . Kindly advise urgently.

Hi

Body temperature below 95' F is hypothermia.

Sepsis as such is an important cause for hypothermia.
Does she have fever before her sweating? Sweating reduces the body temperature.
Is she on any medications like cough preparations? They may cause excessive sweating.

Though fever medications do not reduce the body temperature below normal, better avoid these medications if there is no fever.
Other common cause for hypothermia is hypothyroidism- reduced levels of thyroid hormone in the body.

Make sure the temperature outside is comfortable, she is adequately clothed, she eats and drinks well. Discuss this with your doctor and have her examined if needed.

Wish your daughter good health.
