Hi my 9 year old daughter Bonnie frequently gets nauseous. This either manifests in stomach pain and guarding or vomiting. 18 months ago, she was diagnosed as suffering from 'child worries' manifesting in stomach disorder and given lactolose. We were told that she would grow out of it.
Recently we have seen the nauseau frequency increasing. We put this down to pressure at school and on travel to a long holiday we are taking in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore. She tells us that she is not stressing/worrying about anything, yet she sometimes wakes feeling very sick and this can lead to vomiting. The nausea is most frequent in the morning, during travel and last thing at night but not exclusively so.
In addition, she is pale and has been getting tired (physically and mentally) much earlier on this holiday than her two sisters - 6 and 12 years old respectively. Two nights ago her right leg gave way for no explicable reason and, when questioned, she said it sometimes happens that her legs don't work. She has also been complaining that her leg muscles are feeling really tired although we are not walking particularly far and certainly no more than she is used to at home (UK).
Bonnie has been bitten by mosquitos in Penang but, as yet, has no fever, rash or diarrhoea. Despite the nausea and vomiting she has a relatively healthy appetite in the periods she feels better. It is the increased frequency of nausea, vomiting, mental tiredness (sleepiness), muscle tiredness (legs) and leg collapse that is giving us real cause for concern.
Is this indicative of a longer term (chronic) issue or perhaps tropical related?
Should we consult a doctor prior to return to the UK in two weeks time?
Many thanks indeed
