Child Has Rash On Wrist, Dry Skin, Blisters. Taking Acyclovir. What To Do?
Hi, My daughter is 8 years old, and she woke up with a rash on her wrist that looked a lot like poison ivy. about 2 weeks went by and it kept getting worse, so I took her to the dr. she was diagnosed with shingles. she has been on acyclovir for 10 days and its not going away. now the skin is dry and there is blisters all around it. the blisters get big and pop, and then the skin gets thick and hard and I have to keep it clipped off. I took her back to the dr., and now she is saying its turned into eczema. I'm really getting worried, because this is not going away. what should I do?
I can understand you concern. However it is very difficult for me to give an opinion without examination of the lesions. The description suggests it to be an allergic reaction. I suggest that you revisit your doctor or have a second opinion to know what the exact cause is and thereafter start appropriate medication.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
