Child Has Red Marks On Tongue, Excess Saliva And Fever. Suggestions?

Hi Doctor, my 2 1/2 year old so. Has red flat marks on the side and tip of his tongue . He is telling me it is sore and has a raised temp. He has been off colour since Saturday when he was physically sick twice. He doesn t have any rashes but seems to have an excess of saliva too? I am giving him paracetamol and Ibuprofen regularly to keep his temp down and make him comfortable. What else can I do ?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

It appears that your son has developed aphthous ulcers on his tongue. You are giving him the right medicine and continue doing so. You may make him do mouth wash with Listerine in warm water two three times a day for some relief. You can also apply glycerine over them.
