Child Has Sugar Level 142 Non Fasting. Normal?

I have type 1 diabetes. I have 3 children, 16, 4, and 9 months. I am always watching them for signs. I felt something wasn't right with 4 year old today. Thought he was urinating much more often then normal. Took a blood test and it was 142. This was at 11 am, not fasting. I called his doctor and they said they need 2 consecutive fasting levels above 126. I understand that but a normal person should not have a 142 blood sugar, am I wrong?

Do not panic.
Unfortunately you are incorrect.
fasting glucose above 126 is absolutely correct and random glucose above 200 warrants investigations.
Please do not unnecessarily check blood sugar of your children.Consult a doctor.A HbA1c is a better indicator.
