Child Has Wet Cough, Cold. No Fever. Teething. Anything Else I Can Do?
My son is 7 months old and has been experiencing a wet cough for s few days now after getting over his first cold . He has had no fever but feels a little clammy. Also he is teething so he has been quite crabby. Normally he is a very happy baby even when sick, but it since the cough he is fighting sleep even when exhausted and muchore crabby than usual. I have had his ears checked for infection and nothing. Besides a vaporizer and chest rub is there anything else I can do to make him more comfortable?
For his teething pain, you may give him teethers/ gels to be applied on the gums/ Acetaminophen in a dose of 15mg/kg/dose given twice or thrice a day if he is very cranky.
Have you got his chest examined too?
He might need cough medications.
If chest is clear and cough is too distressing, you may ask your doctor for cough suppressants.
If he has a blocked nose, it might too disturb his sleep. You may give him Nasoclear drops 2drops in each nostril four times a day.
Do not use over the counter cough preparations. Discuss with your doctor who has examined him.
Hope my answer helps you.
