Child Have Diarrhea. Urine Test Done. No Medication Now. What Could Be It?
Hi what can my daughter have? She is with diarrhea for around one month and half and she cries when she pee. She is only 3 months! I did a urine test and that's what came : colour: pale yellow ,aspect: slightly turbid, reaction : 6.0 ,specific gravity : 1005 , RBCs : 1-2 , pus cells :3-5, epithelial cells : some , crystals : few amorphous urate . What does she has?
Hi and thanks for the query,
\the clinical scenario you describe is compatible with that of a urinary tract infection. However, in the results you present, an important aspect is lacking which is the presence or absence of urinary nitrites, it would be more interesting to ascertain its presence or absence. Other blood tests are actually very important too like a full blood count, and urine cultures and sensitivity tests. Its possible to have a normal urine analysis but with a urinary tract infection.
I suggest a reevaluation by preferably a pediatrician, with a more in depth search of a urinary tract infection using cultures, stool exams and cultures , complete blood count and culture and an abdominal ultrasound for a start.
Thanks and hope this helps,
Luchuo, MD.
