Child Have Pain During Breathing. Had A Fall Earlier And Got Hurt In The Rib-cage. What To Do?

My daughter fell while she was out with her father and she landed on her arm where her fist went into her rib cage by her heart, she said that it really hurts now and feels funny when she breathes, what can I do for her? She is not bruised or swollen so I think she is okay, but I want to make sure based and what she is telling me.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
It might be necessary to get the child properly examined by a physician. The persistence or intensification of the pain might imply that a chest x ray to exclude a possibility of a rib cage fracture. Other lung traumatic lesions or problems with the rib cage must be excluded. Persistence of pain, failure to respond to treatment or aggravation of the pain or other associated symptoms might require a more detailed or critical evaluation.
She is a child and its better to exclude something serious that she might not be able to describe. A physician,s examination and chest X ray are fundamental.
Best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
