Child Having Fever, Itching Sensation, Redness On Body. Urine Test Shows Pus Cells Is 4-8. What Does It Mean?
Dear Doctor, My Niece has been running a very high fever of 103. She also has itching sensation on her body As well as redness on her body. We got her Urine test in which the Pus Cells is 4-8 and Epithelial Cells is 6-8. Could you pleas eadvise as tpo what this means and what could be the possible illness? Thank you
Fever along with itching and redness of the body could be seen secondary to allergic reactions. She also seems to have urinary tract infection,as there are pus cells present in the urine, running temperature along with urinary tract infection would require ultrasound examination of kidney ureter and bladder to rule out ascending infection to kidney.
Uncomplicated urinary tract infection restricted only to bladder is unlikely to cause fever. Would suggest Urine culture along with ultrasound. In the meantime empirical treatment with antibiotics can be initiated pending culture report. Do.consult your Pediatrician.
