Child Having Itchy Rashes On Stomach, Lower Back, Ear, Low Neck. What Could It Be?
Hi My two year old son has a rash/spots mid stomach and low back as well as behind his right ear and low neck . He has been trying to itch the spots on his stomach. I think it could be chicken pox but we haven t been in contact with anyone who has it that I know of. Previous to the rash appearing he has had a cold/ cough but it doesn t seem to be a viral rash like he s had before. Can you advise me what this might be? Thank you Ruth Carpenter

Most probably it is a viral rash.
Give him an antiallergic syrup like benadryl and a calamine lotion.
Chicken pox will have high fever and raindrop like lesions which will be very itchy.
Consult your doctor if the problem persists.

Chickenpox may be spread from asymptomatic persons without development of skin lesions.
These lesions will be more on trunk and less on limbs and usually there is fever and they progress through fclear fluid, cloudy fluid, with blood in it and followed by scab formatino.
Allergy may be one cause which will have papules with itching.
You can apply calamine lotion for external application.
And consult your Pediatrician for the diagnosis and treatment.
