Child Hurt The Back After Falling. Sore Chest, Pain While Running. Need To Go To Emergency?

Hi, my son fell from a vine while swinging yesterday and landed on his back. He had the wind knocked out of him. His back did not hurt but his chest did. Doesn't hurt when I touch it. His pupils dilated when I used a light on them. He woke up this mourning feeling better but says his chest is a little sore.

He seems to be able to do anything without pain. It is a little bit sore when he runs. There is nothing visible and he is breathing fine. Should I take him to ER? Or just continue to monitor him? Thanks in advance, Dave

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

You should go to the doctor to rule out any fracture of the rib.
A x ray may be required after physical examination.

Does he have pain after deep breathing?
Is there visible swelling or tenderness any where on the chest?

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
