Child Is Tired, Grumpy. Abnormal Blood Report. Negative Celiac Screen. Cause?

Hi my 21 month old son has been tired and grumpy for approx 5 months. He was seen by a paediatrician last week who couldn t find anything obviously wrong. However his blood results came back abnormal. His CRP was 84, ESR 62, white cell count 25, neutrophils were 15 and iron level low. Hb was normal at 12.5. Celiac screen was negative. What could be causing this? Should I be worried?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Has you son been loosing weight? What other symptoms does he have so that we can guide you accordingly.

The investigation reports are incomplete for us to comment on. The following reports are missing:
1. Haemoglobin
2. Total white blood cell count - 25 does not mean anything
3. Complete differential white blood count
4. Urine report
5. Stool report

If the child's growth is normal then I suggest that you wait and watch for anothe week or two.

I hope I have responded to your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son all the best.

Regards,

RKK
