Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thank you for your query.
I can understand your frustration. Let me try my best to provide you with as much information as possible. First of all, was a urine culture examination conducted in your child's case? If so, was the result normal or not? If it was not conducted, please go ahead with this investigation. It will rule out some of the most common causes for such a presentation.
Next coming to the presence of a virus in your child's urine. Was this confirmed with a laboratory analysis? If yes, then treating this will solve the problem. Do not worry, response can be slow at times, but it will happen. If this was not confirmed and the doctor is just assuming, this might be a shot in the dark. I request you to ask him to confirm the cause and then only initiate treatment.
Now coming to the pollakiuria. This is common in children and can be caused by many conditions (eg. insufficient oxygen- as the bladder is made up of
smooth muscle, insufficient oxygen reaching the bladder can cause nocturnal
enuresis, etc.) This has a long list, and will have to be looked into if other causes are not found.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.
Best wishes.
