Child Very Tired. Diabetic?

My just turned 7 year old is tired a lot. Today his teacher said he's always putting his head down and is very tired. I have asked his doctor and she seems to think he doesn't need any tests. I'm concerned he could be diabetic? Do you have any suggestions? He is not overweight and adult set diabetes runs in my husbands family, they are all overweight.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Does he have increased frequency of urination?
Does he have increased appetite?
Does he have increased thirst?

Tiredness could be because of many causes.
Anemia can be a cause of tiredness. Boredom and lack of interest can also result in tiredness.

A complete physical examination along with investigations are required to arrive at a diagnosis.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
