Child With Appetite Only For Junk. Healthy But Skinny. Suggestions?
Hi. My son is now four years old but has no appetite. We moved from Africa to Germany nine months ago and since then he does not eat well and only keeps getting skinny....the doctor says he is healthy and that its normal but as a mother i feel terrible about his weight loss. He ate very healthy natural food when in Africa but now all he wants all day is cornflakes and fries, even if i cook for him a good meal he wont take it down.... what can i do to help him gain a little more weight and eat more than just cornflakes? Jackie.
If your doctor has told that your son is healthy then there is no need to worry. Children are sometimes picky and fussy about food. They should be handled carefully and you may start some sort of rewarding the child when he eats healthy natural food. Include nutrient items like fruits and milk or milk products slowly. You can continue to give him fries and cornflakes but make that infrequent. Cereals and grains may be added to his regular diet in various preparations. You can ask him any choice of food that he would like you to prepare for him occasionally.
Monitor his body weight regularly and see that it is normal for his height and growth.
Hope this helps
