Child With Fever, Vomitting, Diarrhea, Bumpy Rashes, Sleeping A Lot. Treatment?

My five year old son has had a pretty high fever for four days now. Yesterday morning, day three, he vomited with diarrhea. This morning, only diarrhea. No appetite for the entire four days. To day he developed a raised bumpy rash but only on his cheeks, arms, and legs. Very lethargic and sleeping alot. Temperature is controlled by ibuprofen.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Your son appears to be having a viral infection. Following the viral gastroenteritis he has developed a rash. Viral rash does appear 2-3 days after onset of the fever. As he is improving (no fever, no vomiting and no diarrhoea) I suggest that you can wait and watch for the next 24-48 hours.
