Child With High ESR Levels. Taking Cefazola Sciencem. Chills And High Fever. Reason?

My child , 7 yrs old has high ESR (100) after taken IV 1 gm twice a day for 4days and oral cefazola sciencem 375 mg TDS for 10 days. ESR was 108 before medication, 80 after iv drugs.before treatment got chills, high fever for 3 days. Now no fever and nothing specilal. Can go to school.soymystery I know possible diagnosis and treatment.

Hi,

The reason for a high ESR could be infection or inflammation .Since your child was treated for infection with antibiotics this ESR will gradually come down.

However ESR is not a specific investigation for infection.There are others like Complete blood count ,urine test and others depending on the focus of infection.

If your child is doing alright i guess you could send him to school.About the diagnosis you should discuss with his doctor because he had seen the child from the beginning and would know what he was treating.
