Child With High Fever, Headache, Pain While Swallowing. All Tests Clear. Any Thoughts?

My four year old has had fever as high as 103.9 since Wednesday evening and the only complaint with it is a headache. Just last night she complained that when she swallowed it hurt. She has had decreased appetite and increased thirst. Took her to walk in clinic Thursday said it probably something viral...tested negative for flu. Ears, throat, looked good and lungs/chest were clear. Still running temp. Can t seem to get it to go lower than 100. What could this be? How should I treat it? There was hand foot mouth at her daycare could these be symptoms

Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Fever along with pain while swallowing could be due to Pharyngitis. Its unlikely to be due to hand and foot disease.
There is no cause of concern, as your child has been thoroughly been investigated for other causes and everything seems to be alright.

There is no cause of concern if
1. She is eating well
2. Her sleep is normal
3. No Photophobia

I would also advise you the following
1. Warm Saline gargling-- Add 2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of lukewarm water and make her gargle 4-5 times a day

2. Steam inhalation

3 . Start her on antibiotic like Azithromycin

if the fever still persists inspite of starting antibiotic for more than 48 hours, kindly consult your Pediatrician

In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Wishing you happy and healthy life
