Child With Juvenile RA, No Joint Pain, Consistent Low Grade Fever, Blood Tests Showed Elevated Sed Rate. Conclusion?

Hi, my 9 yr. old son has juvenile rheaumatoid arthritis . His bloodwork just came back showing a sed rate of 160. He has not been complaining of any joint pain, although he has a low grade fever every day. Some days it has gotten to 100.8. Could he have cancer and will the elevated sed rate cause him any physical problems?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The raised ESR could be related to RA. The persistent low grade fever is suggestive of an inflammation. Proper treatment is needed for relief.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
