Child With On And Off Pain Above Umbilicus, Nausea, Poor Appetite. All Tests Clear. Should More Tests Be Done To Prove Gastritis?

My 6 year old son has been having pain off and on just above umbilicus for 3 mths. Has nausea with pain and poor appetite. At times hardly eating. No diarrhea no constipation. Had a normal abdominal ultrasound, normal cbc, normal bld work results for diabetes. He has been started on Zantac for a week and half. Doesnt seem to be helping much yet. How long for zantac to work? Should i insist on more testing to prove gastritis? Should i be worried about stomach cancer?

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It appears that your son might be having some problem with the liver, or enzymes of the stomach, or a bulk of worms in the intestine.
Zantac if it works should start working in a day or 2 .
I advise you to consult a gastro enterologist for diagnosis and treatment. He may need to be tested the S.G.P.T, S.G.O.T, HBSAG, etc.
I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms enzyme preparations, albendazole, and liver stimulants.
Wishing him a good appetite, and better health.
