Child With Pain In The Lower Stomach During Urination. Need To Get Checked?

my 7 year old son went on a slip and slide today and they put dish soap all over it. He now complains about his lower stomach hurting and not being able to finish peeing. This happened 1 time about 30-40 min ago and wanted to know if its just cause the soap got into his pee hole,or a chance of something defferent. What should I check or test or ask him for diagnoses

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi

If its due to some irritants like soaps, the urethral opening gets inflammed- which usually causes burning sensation during initiation of urination.

Pain in the lower tummy and pain at the end of urination, suggests inflammation of the urinary bladder- cystitis.

Give him plenty of water and other fluids.

If pain persists, its better to have him seen by a doctor, get his urine microscopy/ culture done and get him treated accordingly.

Regards.
