Child With Vomiting With Diarrhoea. Is It Fifth Disease?

Hi. I have a question about my daughter, she is 6 yrs old. On Sunday morning, she woke up feeling nauseous & vomited 2 times on that day but had no fever. She did not have much appetite but was able to hold down toast & chicken soup. By evening she was feeling fine. The next morning, Monday, she was no longer nauseous, was able to eat breakfast & kept it down. However I noticed she had very red cheeks & her arms & legs were blotchy & kind of red as well. Still no fever present & otherwise she was feeling fine, just mild itchiness on the cheeks, arms & legs. She did not eat anything out of the ordinary so I don t think it was an allergic reaction. I took her to the dr just in case & they said it can POSSIBLY be Fifth disease however it s not associated with vomiting. Well they wrote her a note to clear her to attend school the next day & she also held her food down all day, no vomiting or anything. The next day,Tuesday she attended school with no problems. However, in the evening she ate ice cream, still was fine & later went to bed. Today, Wednesday, she woke up at 4:30a.m. throwing up & with diarrhea. Still has no fever at all though. I don t think it s Fifth disease because it s not associated with vomiting. She also has no fever. I m worried this might be something else. Any suggestions?

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. I believe that you are having problems with you daughter having a sort of viral infection that is yet to be detected. I also believe that your daughter does not have the fifth disease because of no association with vomiting. I do believe that she has no fever and this in an indication of a probably autoimmune disorder. I hope you can get her tested for allergies as well as autoimmune disorders. This may throw some light into what it may be. Take care and have a lovely day!
