hello and welcome to health care magic. I am sorry that you feel unwell.
Constipation occurs when passing stool becomes less frequent and more difficult to pass. Every body is different in terms of the frequency of passing stool. Most doctors state that passing stool less than 3 times a week is not acceptable.
The actual criteria state that a person must have at least 2 of the following over a 3 month period to be classified as having constipation:
(1) fewer than 3 movements a week
(2) straining
(3) lumpy hard stool
(4) sensation or the feeling of the stool not completely coming out
(5) sensation of blockage anus
(6) needing to maneuver to stool
Passing stool every 2 days is actually not so bad but if you are straining and the stool is hard and lumpy then you would still be said to have constipation.
The blood that you see can be from straining when you stool and the trauma to the anus, it could be as a result of haemorrhoids ( enlarged veins in the anorectal region which result from increased pressure) ,a fissure ( cut ) may also cause bleeding. The bleeding may also indicate a more serious problem and it may actually be best if you check this out with your doctor.
While constipation can occur due to inadequate fiber, water, exercise,
stress and eating alot of milk products and in some persons with constipation - using too much laxatives, constipation can also indicate more serious conditions such as a
hypothyroidism ( low thyroid) or neurological conditions.
It can also occur as a result of some medications such as antiacids.
You need to look at you diet, reduce the dairy if taking excess and increase the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat. You should try to eat at least one fruit or some vegetables with each main meal and use fruits as your snack. Drink alot of water and try to be as active as you can. You can also add bran products to your diet.
When you see your doctor about the blood in the stool and the constipation , he or she may also check to see if they are any other contributing factors such as medication and may suggest blood tests to rule out any other illnesses. In some cases imaging studies are done to look for an obstruction.
I hope this information is helpful to you and I wish you the best
