Chronic Hip Pain. X-ray Taken Previously Show Wear And Tear. Recommendations?
I am a 55 year old woman with a very physical job,I work manually as a sheep farmer and am often on my feet for over 8 hours a day.I have been experiencing chronic hip pain in both hips, worse at night, for over the last 18 months.Hip x rays, taken 4 years ago, state usual wear and tear.I have had a career both in the airline industry and equestrian industry. Am I just suffering from excess use of hip joints or are they needing replaced?. The pain is often unbearable.
The wear and tear of joints is called osteoarthritis.
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disorder of the joints, is age related and is caused by over use of the joints.
The pain associated with osteoarthritis is controlled by taking pain killers.
Reduction of weight also helps to slow down the degenerative process.
The preparation of hyaluronic acid helps to regenerate the worn off cartilage and prevent further damage. You can consult orthopedician for prescription of drugs.
Hip replacement is needed when the cartilages are totally worn off.
Thanks and take care.
