Clear Liquid Discharge From Anus..

For some years now I have suffered from a discharge of clear liquid from the back passage. It tends to be spasmodic but is greatly increased if I make a long plane journey where one is in a cramped position most of the time. I also experience considerable bloating of the abdomen and a feeling like trapped wind. My stools are usually soft which again would indicate the presence of liquid. Apart from raised blood pressure, which is well controlled by medication, I am in robust health. I have had this discharge for more than ten years but it does seem to be becoming worse lately. It is also embarrassing to have one s underwear continually soiled in this way. I tend to think this discharge has yeast as one of it s components. I have tried to relate this problem to my diet so that I could cut out anything that was likely to aggravate it, but I am totally unable to connect it to any specific food or drink. I would be grateful for any observations you can give.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,I can well understand what you are going through.A very common cause of mucus in stool is, as we all know, can be constipation.Which can be dealt with by being on a high fibre diet and take plenty of liquids. If this is already being done i would suggest you to check with a surgeon(proctologist) or even a general surgeon for that matter, for it could be a fistula or a sinus(pilonidal) or a hemorrhoid even which has been bothering since so long. At times, there could be also some neurological cause behind it which in turn has caused a spincter dysfuntion. So please dont get disheartened and pay a visit to a surgeon's office.
