Constant Ear Aches, Right Ear Stronger Than Left. History Of Ear Surgery For Hearing In Stereo. Detected Nerve Damage. No Help From Medications For Infections. Suggest

HELLO
I am a senior-male-65 years old.
I had ear surgery in March 2013
to correct what I was described as
hearing in stereo. A surgeon in
Edmonton,AB corrected this issues.
My hearing in the surgical repaired ear is about
20%-I have been told that I have nerve damage.
My question-I have been having almost constant ear aches
Right ear are stronger than left ear.
I place drops in as suggested by my local GP.
Have tried medications for infections.
Nothing has worked.
Please help. This does interfere
with my quality of life!
Thanks
Rene

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding constant ear ache not responding to medical treatment as adviced by your GP. You have undergone surgery for correction of hearing in March 2013.

Your earache is on both side though more on right side. This bilateral otalgia may be otomycosis (fungal infection) or it may be central neurological pain.

I would like to suggest you to consult ENT doctor for tharough examination and pinpoint the diagnosis for definitive treatment.

Regards.
