Continued Pain In Ankle. History Of Sprain In Ankle Followed By Being On Crutches. Work Involves Using Stairs. Suggest
I just sprained my ankle on labor day and my doctor told me to go on crutches for 2 day then start walking. I tried to walk on it for about 3 days and I called my doctor back and told her it is still hurting. She put me back on crutches for the time being but my office has a lot of stair and I am going up and down them all the time. I have a boot cast and I was wondering if it would be appropriate to wear it?
A mild ankle sprain (grade 1) needs atleast 2 weeks of external support either in the form of a brace or cast boot for the injured tissues to heal naturally.
So, it is mandatory to wear the boot cast. Foot end elevation is advised during night hours. Active toe movements are necessary to keep the swelling to a minimum. Use antiinflammatory medicines like Advil or Aleve to reduce pain & inflammation.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
