Cough, Sharp Pains In Right Side, Painful During Breathing. Had Bronchitis. Suggestions?
i was diagnosed with broncitis a week and a half ago. I finished my meds and antibiotics this past Thursday. My cough is still lingering but I can tell it is slowly going away. But three days ago I began to have sharp pains in my right side....below my breast all the way to the middle of my back. About four fingers wide. It hurst when I take deep breaths, when I cough and for the past two hours, it simply hurts to move. The pain is excruciating and is definitely giving me slight anxiety.
Hi, You have been diagnosed to have Bronchitis which could occur post viral infection but if you have developed pain which increases on cough and deep breath it may be due to involvement of pleura a membrane outside lung. You need to visit your physician and get it confirmed. As local muscular pain or any other cause. A stronger analgesic may be required, and you can get some relief by decreasing movement by sleeping on left lateral side. To avoid severe pain even cough suppressant formula may be required. You can con continue your antibiotics. You can take steam inhalation which helps to bring out sputum. I am sure with treatment your cough and pain will improve in few days. Please take very good care of yourself. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
