Coughing At Night, Trachea And Lung Ok, Cause ?

Good morning, Doctor. My son 3 years old, recently, he alway cough , seriously in the night time, always wake up from sleep due to the cough, day time is better, we went to hospital, doctor auscultated, trachea and lung are ok, voice is also ok. Arround 10 days ago, he got a cold , just from that time, he started cough. His cold has already ok, no more fever, only cough is still not get well. Please tell me, what s the possiblity for this condition.

Cough at night is usually due to nasal block and post nasal discharge. You can use normal saline drops for a few days and watch the response. You can also try steam inhalation. It takes some time for cough to subside. If there is no fever and the child is active you need not worry. If cough persists for more than two weeks it is better to show the child again.

Hi,
A dry cough at night can be a sign of asthma. i would suggest getting him checked again and possibly trying an inhaler at night to see if this may help.
