Could Atenolol Cause Memory Pauses Having Delay In Recalling Certain Things?

Could atenolol have any connection with some 2 minute memory pauses I have had - we have ruled out atril fib, MRI s, EEG s, ultrasound of carotid artery, and PET scan have been normal, Lymes test has come back negative. The 2 minute episodes (6 in 6 months) were reduced to 2 in 12 months after cutting the atenolol from 50 to 25 mg. Alzheimer s is a possibility but several doctors said it doesn t act like that. I have not had any episodes in the 15 months, but I do have some memory holes and some delays in recalling certain words. Any suggestions????? Joan

Regarding your concern, you should know that atenolol may influence on those memory gaps. It is known to reduce physical performance. Besides, bradycardia, may cause low brain perfusion and thus, memory problems.
Anyway, I recommend you to follow up with a neurologist after 6 months and perform some cognitive tests in order to exclude other possible causes of dementia.
