Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started taking 2.5 mg of Bystolic a day about a week ago to treat heart palpitations. For the past few days, I ve been getting extremely lightheaded almost every time I stand up from a sitting position. Oddly, this doesn t happen in the morning. It starts about mid-afternoon. I take the med in the morning. Could the Bystolic be causing the lightheadedness?

Could Bystolic Cause Lightheadedness?
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic It is quite possible that the medication is playing in part in the lightheaded sensation. It is possible that your blood pressure is dropping when you move from sitting to standing position. This is called orthostatic hypotension. Your doctor can check this for you. Medication is one cause of this condition though there can be other causes as well. If confirmed, the treatment would depend on the cause. I hope this helps
