Could Narcotic Pills Be The Cause For Lemony Taste In Mouth?

Exactly two weeks ago to the day, I had outpatient surgery on my left leg, from which I am presently recovering at home. For the last 5 days, I have stopped the narcotic pain pills, and have only been taking Extra Strength Tylenol. Actually, I have been trying to even wean myself from taking those pills, too. Would any of these things be contributing to the fact that for the last 3 days, I have had a constant lemony taste in my mouth? It is as if I were continually sucking on a lemon.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Acidic taste in the mouth is most commonly related to GERD ( gastro esophageal reflux) which may or may not be related to the medication that you are currently using.

If it related to your medication then discontinuation should cause it to resolve.

If you find that the taste remains then you need to consider the use of medications such as prevacid, protonix, prilosec, aciphex , nexium

Dietary changes would also be necessary. This would include reducing the use of acidic/spicy/fried foods.
Using small frequent meals instead of large meals would also be needed.

I hope this helps
