Could Bump In Head Due To Falling On Floor Be Harmful?

Hi, my 23 month old daughter fell and hit the back of her head on the tile floor, she has a squishy bump about the size of a ping pong ball. Other than pain, she s acting completely normal, pupils are responsive, she s sitting, standing, walking fine, she just took a nap. Should I worry that the bump doesn t feel hard?

Hello. Thank you for your question. This is a very common occurrence in this age group. The fact that she didn't lose consciousness upon impact almost completely rules out serious head injury. As long as she doesn't vomit within the first 24 hours, we don't have to worry about this. The bump should be soft, as you see. It will last a few days before it goes down, but this is ok. There is no need to worry.
