Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

I think she may have food poisoning or Acute gastroenteritis.
In Hospital, they may taken X-ray chest as a regular emergency need and they may noticed a changes in x-ray due to her habit of smoking.
That is why they recommend her to stop smoking.

Also smoking can increase the risk of lung cancer.
Smoking temporarily increase the bowel movements.
As she already have diarrhea and vomiting, smoking should be stopped.

Advice her to
1. Drink plenty of water
2. Oral Rehydration Solution
3. If she have fever or rigor or increase in loose stool or vomiting, then she needs antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin and Metrionidazole.
As her doctor prescribed, take the drugs which ever given.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
