Could Coughing Blood Clot Be Due To Sinus Congestion?

my son hit his head at hockey.he said he felt sick but did not through up.the next day he sounded congested-sinuses.it has been 2 days since the hit and he coughed up a blood clot.he rinsed out his mouth and all was well then coughed again and another clot.it has not happened again.do you think it could be from his sinus.he is 19 and doesn t want to go to the er.help

Hello,

If blood is coming after coughing means it may be originating from throat or lower respiratory tract. Also, possible that injury may cause bleed into sinuses may come with sputum.

Please consult your physician, he/she will examine (chest x-ray, x-ray PNS) and treat you accordingly.
