Could Ear Infections Cause Coughing And Crusty Eyes?

My son is 14 mos. he battled ear infections for over 2 months - 40 days of antibiotics plus 3 rocephin injections and finally tubes about 3 weeks ago. The ear infections cleared up however he immediately started with coughing (mostly at night) and now also wakes with crusty eyes. This has been ongoing for almost 3 weeks. I m nervous about seeking more antibiotics because of antibiotic resistant bacteria and medications not working for the ears. Are there alternatives or do I get him back to the doc again?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your concerns about your son having continuous ear infections with long courses of antibiotics and all. Now has developed crusty eyes on waking up and coughing at night.
These two symptoms are suggestive of nasal or sinus pathology.

I would advise you to request for proper investigations of the blood, CT Scan of the sinuses and culture sensitivity of the nasal discharge before starting next course of antibiotics to see if it is necessary so that if at all he receives it, it will the most appropriate.

Till then use Decongestant nasal drops 4 times a day followed by steam inhalations , the problems will be reduced.

Rest of the medicines as per the reports only.
Also give him therapeutic doses of Vitamin A and D
