Could Extreme Sore Throat, Swollen Glands And Face With Redness And Body Ache Indicate Mumps?

Other than the apparent sign of a person having the mumps, I have an 19 yr old female grand-daughter who have extreme sore throat & glands swollen along with half her face is reddened. Complains of body aches as well, she has not had the mumps before. She was suppose to have had her vaccine when she was small. I am William M. Perkins

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. She may have some upper respiratory tract infection. it can be bacterial infection or virsl infection with super added bacterial infection. Lymphnode enlargement is due to reactive hyperplasia as a result of infection. She should take antibiotics like azithromycin or levofloxacin or amoxiclav according to your doctor's advice. Antihistaminics drugs like chlorpheneremine malate or cetrizine can be helpful. Paracetamol should be taken if she has fever. Hot saline water gargles is also useful. Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
