Could Globus Sensation Cause Swallowing Problems Like Food Coming Out?
I am following up on questions I asked yesterday. Dr. Rovena Murati. who was great was answering my questions and she reviewed my medical profile. If you could look at the chat between her and me please. My next question would be if globus sensation can cause swallowing problems,, sometimes food comes back up, Or can Gerd/ acid reflux cause a lump feeling along with food coming up .. I don t vomit, no weight loss, and awesome bloodwork..
I understand your concern. Globus sensation can be very frustrating. It is a condition I am familiar with and is caused by prolonged acid reflux. The reason behind the globus sensation is that constant exposure to acid leads to irritation of the throats and hence affecting the muscle relaxation. As a result the muscles of the throat become constricted and give you the sensation of something stuck in there. Burping causes temporary relief by pushing open the muscles. Sometimes the globus sensation manifests even before the heart burn feelings. Taking a course of antiacids and avoiding acidic food should resolve the symptoms.
