Could Hard And Painful Lump On Hip Be A Lipoma And Could This Rupture?

my husband has a lump on his left hip. its hard and was painful for the first 2 days. now the knot is smaller but is surrounded by a very dark purple bruise. we had a family friend who is an r.n. look at it and she thought that it might be a lipoma. could a lipoma rupture?

Lipoma is usually not painful.Lipoma occurs as a soft swelling.Hard swelling with bruise suggests some other cause such as abscess.if it is a abscess you will require antibiotic,check with a local physician.
