My 5 year old went to hospital on october 22 diagnosed with a viral infection. She went to her regular doctor on november 4 they took blood and says her white blood cells are high. Could it be from fighting the infection and cold she also had a runny nose and wet cough

Hi yes i think high blood cells in this condition is due to viral infection.first rule out bacterial infection too.
It can be treated by broad spectrum antibiotic twice daily and use of zinc supplementation.sometimes it subsides by itself without any treatment
