Could Increased Dosage Of Prozac Cause Stomach Problems And Loss Of Appetite?

I take a 20 mg of prozac and my doctor bumped up my dosage to 40 mg. after a couple of days, I noticed after taking the 40 mg i started having stomach tension, loss of apetite symptoms , could this be because my doctor raised my mg from 20 to 40 mg of prozac?

Hello,

The symptoms you describe are common side effects of Prozac, and so I would suspect the increased dose is responsible. It may improve over a few weeks, so if you can tolerated it, you could see if it gets better, or you could talk with your doctor about lowering the dose back to what it was.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
