Could Inflammation Of Inner Ear Be The Cause For Loss Of Hearing?

Hello, my dr. has diagnosed a possible inflammation of the inner upon a sudden onset of loss of hearing 3 days ago. While waiting for an ENT dr. apt, she prescribed daily doses of 20 mg. for 15 days, with declining dosages after each 5 days. My question is: can I expect any increased hearing during this period?
